The IndyCar Series visited Mid-Ohio on Sunday, and it was an interesting race. The first caution of the day came on the first corner of the first lap when there was a multiple car accident. Everyone involved was able to drive away and continue in the race except for Marco Andretti and Tony Kanaan, whose days were finished early. This was the first caution for the series at Mid Ohio since 2011. The race was able to stay green until lap 26, when both Ryan Hunter-Reay and Takuma Sato spun in separate incidents.
Scott Dixon, today’s winner, started in last place at the beginning of the race due to problems in qualifying. He made his way to the front when much of the field pitted under caution around lap 37 while the number 9 team decided to do the opposite. He stayed up front the rest of the race and finished in first.
Bourdais, Hinchcliffe, Munoz, and Rahal rounded out the top five.
